Patina on Copper, Mounted on wood
In this series I am using a process resembling what happens in a decaying city in a natural environment. I celebrate the beauty of nature reclaiming the urban landscape inspired by early 20th century European design movements using curved lines and geometric shapes. Aging metal representing the rusting structures with peeled-off paint, the more refined & precise lines that of flora and fauna taking over.
I utilize natural acids on copper alloys to form colorful patinas as well as pigmented patinas to create abstract patterns.
When engraving into the patina, the underlying layer which has the color of the used metal shows up again.
